First of all how do you know if you have a cracked head?
second is it reliable to just get it shaved?

Generally a cracked head will leak oil into the antifreeze or antifreeze into the oil however this can also happen with a bad head gasket. The only way to verify if the head is cracked or not is to have it professionally tested.

Shaving ordeckinga head refers to machining the head to correct a warped head not a cracked head.

Yes it can affect performance as oil and or antifreeze can leak into the cylinders. Uncorrected it will destroy the engine.

 

it may also cause you to loose compression in 1 or more of the cylinders....

but ive been told that i have a cracked head by a few people becuz they new the person who had it before me

How Much DasI have SOHC ??? i might be interested as long as everything is alright with it. so should i go get a compression check???
