yeah if your hearing metal to metal i would say its time for new rotors or to have to old ones turned if they are in tolerable specs ( if they are not to thin already) dont take the cap off and compress the calipers with the back pad still in there and a C clamp till the piston is flush with the caliper when you have it all back together pump the brakes a few times then check the fluid level
