This particular trans does not use a pilot bearing. the input shat is supported by a bearing/bushing in the nose of the trans. If it is popping out of gear it is due to a misalignment of the clutch or synchro/gear damage inside the trans. Did it have this problem before clutch replacement?

how do you misalign a self aligning clutch? (modular)
if its not aligned, any clutch will align itself as soon as you get the pressure off the disc.(releasing the clutch)
a clutch can not be out of alignment or it wont go together in the first place.

spud do u think it could have anything to do with the arms on the tranny case that i got from you that could cause this.
if not i think im gonna drop it again and find someone who has a tranny with the 3.94 ratio.

honestly i couldnt tell ya...from what i was told, that tranny was pulled out so the 3.94 could go in it..
are you talking about the selsctor arms???? i dont think i can really see that being the problem unless the guy bent sumthing putting the stuff together
i have 2-3.94 trannys, but neither of them work right....if i can happen to find out whats wrong with 1 of them then will let you know and you can give it a shot

Aha! You replaced the trans with a used one I'm guessing. If it is a used trans then thats probably what's wrong. Check to see that the alignment pins are there. sometimes they come out of the block and stick in the bellhousing of the trans. If you replaced the trans you might be missing one or both of them.
