Default coolant bubbling

hey... finally got my car running good... then of course another problem had to come up.... the car started overheating, the coolant got so hot it was bubbling in the resevoir, and then leaked out the passenger side........ now i think the actual coolant tank has a leak so im not too concerned about the leak, but do you guys think that sounds more like a water pump or a thermostat??? thanks every1

wouldnt hurt to get a new thermostat and rad cap. start there i suppose. and the leaking may have been from boil over in the resevior, it's made to do that.

basically your system has all the coolant it needs (assuming all the air is worked out) when you can take your rad cap off (careful when its hot!) and see coolant AND also see it at the full mark in your coolant res. when it boils over, it may have had TOO MUCH, or it simply got too hot. regardless, you always want to check under your rad cap for coolant and keep your res topped off as well, especially if you think you have a leak. if you are boiling over on a consistant basis, it's time to check a few things!

To be safe replace the rad cap every year. If the top gasket leaks it allows air to be drawn into th system possibly causing hot spots in the head.
