Someone is trying to sell me a 97 Neon with a 98 ACR engine and body. He said it has around 250 -300 hp. Does anyone know if this is true? He is selling it for 3500. It also has a full body kit and cf hood. He said it has a roll cage and light body. It need hubs. The gas tank is fiberglass and only 8 gallons. It only gets 17 mpg. Does this seem right?

*by true i mean easily possible.

 

um.... the body is the same as any other Neon...cept the fake fog light bumper (aka has the holes but no fog lights)... 250-300hp...only if its a fully built (aka performance rebuild) and a small turbo or something...either that or it has tons of stickers and that body kit put together added like 100-150HP. if the gas tank has been replaced by a fuel cell then it could just have an 8 gallon tank. the stock ones were plastic and held like 12.5gal.

 

Uh.........whats all under the hood? Mileage? Body condition? Etc..etc..etc...17mpg?? hmm...

 

try to get a comprehensive upgrades list from the kid and post it. we'd hate to see you get screwed.

the stock tank is more like 11.2 gal...

 

on the 95's metal tanks it was 11 gal. (11.2)...but i thnk the plastic ones were around 12.5...least thats what my '97 is.

 

He said it had a fiberglass tank...clearly not stock.

All 1st gen neons were either 132 HP (SOHC) or 150 HP (DOHC). Unless it has a turbo, no way is it close to 250-300HP.
