aftermarket tach?

aftermarket tach?
where does the green wire from the tach go???? i put it to the blue wire on the coil n all i get is 1000rpm reading even when i rev it, n green wire does nothin n figure the black is ground or am i wrong?? n yes i did set the tach to 6500rpm-7000rpm
