dirt tracking
quick question . im running a 205/60/14 in second gear and hitting rev limiter right at curve in a 1/3 mile track its a sohc 2.0 with a mp computer.if i go to a 175/50/13 and go in to 3rd gear will i gain more speed and stay in the powerband during the high banked corners.dont want to spend extra money on tires if not going to work.my trans has a 3.94 final ratio .anyone have a clue.tired of getting 2cd every week.

RE: dirt tracking
You Must Experiment!
One corner is different from another corner and rarely are any two tracks the same!
I am no expert nor do I race dirt track - occasionally I will catch some dirt when I get two wheels or even four wheels off track!
How badly are you being beat by the 1st place car??
Are you getting beat in the turns or on the straight aways??
Before - During - or after the Apex are you hitting the Rev-Limiter?

RE: dirt tracking
i dont belive that will work, i runa 195/45/14 in 3rd and you gotta be able to stretch a good 75 MPH to be fast like that. big 3/8 mile track to hit 7000 rpm in 3rd with rubber band tires.
you should try a 205/70 or a 195 /70 theyre a bit taller and work pretty good.
205 70 is a tight fit but if you dont have much camber in the LF you can squeeze it in there.
you might be better off with a 3.55 gear, if you only hitting the rev 3 or 4 times before the corner your not gonna pick up much more speed, it just makes you over drive the car then
if you cant pass em, take em out
