High Mileage
Hello,
I was wondering on average how many miles or kilometers a neon usually has on it when it craps out.
I have 260,000 on mine.. still rides nice but I would like to know when they usually stop working.
Thanks.

as long as you take car of them they will last a long time.....though depending on what you mean by stop working, i cant tell ya.....depends if you include an engine rebuild, or what
the wifes has 180,000 miles as of yesterday morning and still running strong...we wanna see if it will last to 200,000 before i have to put a new motor in it

I just took mine on a 200mile trip and I beat the living **** out of it and the car asked for more! I do the Nascar style pass, tailgate then hammer it at 65mph and let it flicker...lol Everytime I did that to pass on the high way the car threw me in the back seat harder than the last time I did. I even juiced a Civic on a country road he was going 55mph and i needed to get to the city quick and he lagged me up then I went to pass and he got on it and the high end that little Neon had was just amazing before I knew it I was going 100mph and passed him like he was standing still!, owned him by like 8 car lengths and I think he gave up. I actually passed him by the time I hit 80mph but I wanted him to knowit was useless to try.
So after beating the **** ot of the car and it still asking for more I'd say the quality is great and mine should last over 200,000 miles with the way i've beaten it. If I would have beat my moms Cavalier like I beat my Neon I'm sure the engine would have been toast long ago on that Chevy. With how many times I've red lined my engine up to 6200RpmI'm starting to think the head gasket problem people claimare myths created by Ford fans.
I've never seen a 4cylinderengine take abuse like this except for the 2.2Turbo Chrysler, I've only seen one self destruct onceand that was because somebody forgot to put oil in it. My brother had a 2.2Turbo Lazer with a 5 speed and the day he was supposed to strip it and take it to the junk yard he got in it and tried to blow the motor, he held it at 7200rpm(which was floored!) for 3 minutes and finally he gave up the thing kept going!, long story short he kept the engine
.
You keep up on your fluids and don't rev the engine or put it in drivefor 2 minutes after start up and let it warm up properly after being cold it will last forver that 2.0 SOHCEngine,Hell you could drive it right away but I prefer to let mine warm up before I start getting up to road speeds.I'm not sure about the DOHC engines durability as I havnt gotten a chance to beat one.
I'd say the car is very durable and should last a long time, you might get sick of it before it will blow up.
