Default Help?!

Hey all.

98 DOHC Neon,

Got the timing belt/pump and all the related garbage removed from the motor, removed the cam gears and rocker arm stuff so that I could remove the head to replace the head gasket while I was in there.

Problem I've ran into my manual that i purchased form checker only refers to installing the cams and the lifters and what not back in for a SOHC motor, none of the install instructions talk about my motor.

I think I put it back together right, I gues my question is, once my crank is set back 3 from TDS , what do I do regarding my timing? the book is not clear on this... Being that I have no reinstall instructions I followed torque from the SOHC motor.

So I have the head back on after the machine shop was done with it, new head gasket I followed all of the instructions for that portion got to placing the cam gears back in and have no instructions.

Help?
Ronnie

I guess the part thats missing from all of the documentation for me is any infomation on the rocker arm stuff because the cam doesnt slide into place from the side of the head, the cams are sat down on top of the lifters and what not. Thats the part that Im sort of confused about.

What Manual do you have? a Factory Shop Manual, Haynes Manual, Or Chilton Manual - all of those should have a section for the DOHC & SOHC engine rebuidls

you will have to set the rockers ontop of the valves and lash adjusters.......then set the cams ontop of them.....then the cam bearing caps.....look at the tops of the bearing caps, first one to tighten is 4 i believe...then 3 then 2 then 1 then 5 then 6 then the big end caps....before tightening any of the caps, make sure that the rockers are still in position and havent tipped over....

i cant remember the torque specs though and thats the most important thing.......das would be the one to ask about that since my manual is out in the garage and it seems that das keeps his on a chain around his neck at all times
