Default Thermostat replacment...

Just did the timing belt and water pump on my brothers 96 neon sohc. I took it for a test drive and the it started to overheat after a while. Im wondering if it could possibly be the thermostat now needing replacement. I checked for leaks and found none, and coolant is full. Anyone have any suggestions? Also I havent looked because its dark now but can anyone tell me where the thermostat is located? Thanks

thermostat is located on the passenger side of the car, next to the intake manifold. behind the radiator cap. just take off 2 bolts and you're there.

Feel free to, but you don't need a high temp one. Get a new radiator cap while you are at it.

Oh, and here is a decent how-to...

i hate thermostats and i dont use them...ever. that was the cause of my friends cracked block and my blown head gasket. and no it doesnt run any colder than all of your motors with thermostats. it runs at the exact same temp. i just have my rad. fans wired to a toggle switch on my dash and i turn them on and off as needed.
