Yes, as long as they are both 97, im confused though, are you doing a DOHC swap or putting a sohc harness on a dohc or what? I know the only real difference is the coolant temp sensor is in a different place on the dohc, but that is only like two or three wires to splice, I just put a 98 dohc harness on my 97 sohc and I had to do more splicing because people told me that it was the same for diffent years, but I guess I misunderstood them.

The DOHC harness is longer, so he shouldn't need to extend the wires. If he had a SOHC and putting a DOHC head on there, then the extended wires would be necessary.

No, you still have to extend it because it is in a different place, I dont even have mine hooked up right now because it wouldnt reach.
