Diagnosing Cooling Fan Problem Question
Ok, so my 1998 Dodge Neon cooling fan is no longer coming on. I turned the a/c on, but still no luck getting the cooling fan to come on. The radiator I have uses a dual fan setup and obviously neither fan is coming on. After watching the radiator for awhile with the engine on, I saw some smoke come out of the driver side cooling fan, not the passenger side fan. The smoke smelled like coolant. My coolant level is fine. What is next to check? Does the fact that the cooling fan doesn't come on with the a/c eliminate the thermostat and relay as possibilities? Any input would help greatly as I'd like to try and fix this myself.

RE: Diagnosing Cooling Fan Problem Question
there is no cooling fan relay on 97+ cars, they have a little retarded electronic box that always goes bad. you can either wire in a relay yourself or replace the little box. i forget where that one is located.
you puff of smoke is most likely a leaky radiator that just hasnt got bad yet.
