Default A.T.F. in an MTX?

well i finally got enough money saved to get my clucth fixed. i had a reputable local shop do it for me. had them install a sachs stage 2 clutch. and now it is shifting really hard on me. so i called the shop the head mechanic told me he put automatic transmission fluid in it. he said thats what they do nowadays. now i really dont believe this? because if A.T.F. works in mtx's then why do they make mtx fluid? soo pretty much can someone tell me if this guy screwed me over. and o the hard shifting only comes after the car is warmed up like the fluid isnt lubricating the way it is supposed to.
well if anyone could help that would be really nice

i use 10w30 motor oil in mine. i have come across quite a few different trannies in my junk yard that does have atf in it. it does work ok. they call for 80 weight in trannies, but i found out being a neon owner that excessive burnouts with the 80w oil is a big no no, well, any prolonged burnout with any oil in a stock mtx tranny in a neon is bad, but diff saver tabs and 30w oil has held up for 2 years for me so far. if your tranny goes out internally, the shop will be getting a call i assume. they would be held responsible for the damages due to not following manufacturers specs.

the manual trannys in the neons use ATF+4 or an equivelant fluid
