Default 1997 DOHC PCM Question.

Ok since my water pump bearing is pretty much gone and my car will be down till I get incentive and money to fix it, I decided to take my car on one last romp before parking for a few days, long story short I ran first gear all the way up to 6000RPM and the rev limited kicked in at 6,100 RPM.

Bascially if anyone remembers I put a PCM in it from a DOHC AutomaticTransmission 1997 Neon, I heard the Rev Limiter was supposed to be around 6500 Rpm at least? This puppy cut out at 6,000 Rpm on the headand I thought I blew my motor till I shifted in a more RPM friendly gear. After this expirence I'm going to save money up for a Mopar PCM and put my old PCM back in for the SOHC.

So is the Rev limit for a 1997 DOHC Neon Automatic PCM only 6,000 Rpm?

The car the PCM is installed on is a 1998 Plymouth Neon SOHC Automatic 124,000 Miles.

if your start wires are just grounded to start all the time you will have a 5800 RPM rev limit (thinking its park / neutral) if its ungrounded it will go to 6750.

Thx for the info : )

It might actually be correct, I was trying to keep the car on the road so it could have been 5800 it stalled at.

Certainly if your arent expecting it,The rev limiter canscare the living crap right out of you when your consentrating on driving, I thought I blew the motor.
