Default interchangeability of parts

Hi everyone,

At the moment I have a 1999 Dodge Neon 4 door sedan parked at my
house. Basically, the car was T-boned in a wreck and has bad body
damage. But the motor and transmission are still good, and the
other components are apparently functioning.

I was looking to buy another used car, and I was thinking that it would
make a lot of sense to simply purchase another Dodge Neon, since I
already have this other junked car here to use for parts. This way I
can save on money since I won't have to spend as much money at the
auto parts store for replacement parts. But I have a question I'd
like to ask:

I know that there are two different type of4 cylinder engines manufactured into the Neons (1995-1999), butcan components like power steering pumps, alternators, water pumps, and etc beswapped from one engine to another? For instance, if I were to purchase another Neon that has a different engine from the junked neon I already have, can the components I just mentioned be swapped from one to the other?

If not, I'll try to look for aNeon that has the exact same kind of motor as the one I intend to use for spare parts.can I safely assume that if Ipurchase any running Dodge/Plymouth Neon from the years of 1995-1999which has the exact same kind of engine as thejunked Neon, I shouldn't have any problem swapping outany of the parts between the two, right?

thanks for any info you can provide,
tysteel

The differences in the motors and spark plug wires, PCM's, cams and cam gears, timing belts, both manifolds and some sensors. All the accesories are swappable I believe. The only difference that I can think of right now, would be the starters.

i would try to stay way from the 95's as some of the plug and play will not interchange and some of the plugs are different.

if you get another neon then try and stick with a 98 or 99...since the parts will swap perfectly.....95-96 and some 97's use sensors with different plugs....but if you dont mind splicing wires, just take the accessory and the plug that goes with it and swap them in....
power steering pump andalternator (with plug depending on year).........but the starters wont unless you wanna change alot of wires
