SPEEDO PROBLEMS NEED HELP!!!

Hello every one I am about two minutes fresh into the forum and I need help.... I bought a 99 neon for my g/f and the damn thing is being a nightmare, my concern on hand is that I pulled the vehicle speed sensor out of the trans to fined a melted pieice of mystey part in my hand ... which i belive is the vehicle speed sensor "gear"? so the questions begin with has any one else had this issue or heard of this happing to anyone, question 2 how the heck can I fix it fast and do I have to pull the trans and what parts are required for this project ... also if any one can lead me to some diagrams via the net that would be great ... thanks Adam

 

are you talking about the gear that attaches to the vss... or the gear inside of the transmission ??

if its just the gear that attaches to the vss then that goes into the tranny... i think i got it for 5 dollers... but the vss its self is like $35.. and if its the gear inside the transmission then idont knowbut im gonna get a new trans

 

yes thats what i am talking about .. the vss gear .. and my worries is that the trans gear is causeing problems as well . thanks for your help boxerjl2
