Default 420A MAF Sensor

Now, I don't own a 420A, but since it's a cousin of the 4G37 that I own, I figure I may as well ask. I was told that the 420A doesn't have a MAF Sensor. Could this be true? I'm searching around to try and retro-fit a better flowing MAF onto my car since the stock sensor is extremely restrictive to air flow. [>:] If the 420A doesn't have one, anyone know by chance where I might be able to find a sensor that would work with my engine? The 4G63 will not work (the ECU must be completely recailibrated if it would work by chance, so that one's out of the question).

an eclipse forum might be the best place to find out any of this info.....the 420A is not the motor that comes in the neons

I've been asking around. And the 420A was in the Neon, the block at least. Chrysler engine and all.

The 420a is what Mitsubishi calls their version of the Neon's DOHC motor known as the ECC. They have identical blocks, but the heads are different. Neither the DOHC or SOHC neon engine have a MAF sensor.

Alright. Just wanted to get some stuff down. The only thing that I know of the 420A is that it was used in the 2G Eclipse and Talons. I don't run that engine or the 4G63. Nice stock, base model econo engine for me. Woo! 4G37! Anyway, thanks for the information!

on that note im pretty sure you CAN use a 2nd gen 4g63 MAF but youll need bigger injectors to compensate.
on my talon i had to step up 100cc bigger to equal it out.
none of the cars with the 420a have a MAF, your best bet it to hack the one up that you have and try to retune it with an AFC to get the fuel back up. PM me, maybe we can talk on AIM & i can help you out some with it.

the most common MAF swap is with a GM MAF such as the 4.3/5.7 up to the ls8 Maf you have to get the MAF translator and can be found on ebay my buddy has one on his 4g63. I can send you photos if you want.

A MAF is not needed on a neon. A MAF does a very similar job to the MAP sensor already in place on your intake manifold.
