Default Atx trouble

Ok i was on my way home from work today and went to pass someone and it went down to passing gear. But after i passed them it stayed in passing gear i was going 55 and it was a 3500 or 3600 rpms now what can be causeing this. If i don't hit passing gear it shifts fine it will be at little above 2500rpms at 60 mph what should i start checking first basically whats happening from what i can figure is the car won't come out of passing gear but i pulled over and messed with that one cable going from the throttle body to the trany and it went threw the gears like it was supposed to(2500 rpm at 60 mph) but i dunno if that was the problem or not also i adjusted the kick down band on the out side 4 months ago.I just put this trany in like 4 months ago it only had 71000 miles on it. Did the comon stuff to it atf4 trany fluid and new trany filter. If it is the cable can it be adjusted if so how do i do that? Someone please help i don't wanna have to start driveing my mustang to work and ruin the interior with mud and coal.

Sounds like your torque converter isn't kicking in.

How would i go opon checking it das?I know i have to take the tranny out to replace it but would i just take the inspection plate off from under neath on the sideof the tranny where the flywheel is? What would i start looking for to see if its bad i put a new in when i replaced the tranny. As long as i don't put the peddle to the floor to pass someone it shifts threw all the gear fine and is at the rpms its supposed to be at 60 mph.

i had the same problem. since the 3 speed as a mechanicaly operated tranny, i just disconnected the kickdown cable. now when i wanna pass, i just put it in 2 using the selector, then back into 3 when in done.

Manually downshifting is bad for the tranny.
