So it finally happened. Valve went in my car so im forced to finally buy the re build kits for my car. Even better 1 of my pistons was tapping a hole slowly through the transmission so i need a new transmission as well. I was talking to my mechanic and he said it would be better to buy an entire new (well used) engine and transmission package and not buy the re build kits. Which road should i take because i have wanted the engine re build kits for awhile now but if its better to buy a already re built engine and transmission i suppose ill do it.

if your engine is trashed it might be less expensive to do a complet swap. the only problem with that is the one that you get from the junk yard could be worse that the one that you already have. i would pull the oil pan and check and see how bad of shape the bottom end lookes if its unfixable ortoo expensive i would go with the "new" engine.

 

saw some new engines in the junkyard 1 was a 98 expresson with a little less than 60K on the engine for 1 thousand they wanted. saw 3 or 4 others but that was the best deal. im gonna be buying a newer (still used) tranny for like 400 and a brand new clutch to go with it while i go through this headache.
