the shop seems to think its a bad piston and not a bearing.....i guess i will find out within a day or two when i rip it apart
Watch the shop though alot of them will tell you one thing just to keep from looking stupid or to make more money off of you

i will be sure to keep this updated.......

i personally think its sumthing the shop did......i checked the oil level earlier and its perfect......i know i torqued everything down exactly as it should have been....(ironically enough, imade sure to dothis so i wouldnt have any problems)......

the only reason that i would be taking any parts of the motor back to that shop would be to either have them fix their own problem, or to throw it through their front window

Do you know if the shop checked the big end of your rods when they were doing the balancing job? Also it dosen't hurt to check clearences with plasti gauge when wrenching on an engine.

believe me, i plasi-gauged ever bearing to make sure the clearances were all good to go....i also used a feeler gauge on everything i could and it was all great....
i think the shop check the big ends of the rods because thats where you can see the marks from them grinding them down a bit

The grinding on the pad at the bottom of the cap was to equalize the weights. They didn't blue the cap from the heat, did they? They should have checked the big end bore before and after grinding.

my wife has always been pretty cool about me spending money on my car and all the time i play with it...

neonracer, you cant have the motor.....

i got the engine stand ehis afternoon and dropped the oil pan on the motor....no shavings in the oil and no noticable probems but the rods seem to have a little side-to-side play in the bearings...
im thinking the bearings arent thick enough because the edges of them still look untouched by the crank....but i only took 1 rod apart so far....
hopefully tomorrow nite or sunday im gonna have the head off and everything else ripped out of the block....

The rods should have a little side to side play. You can measure it with a feeler guage then compare it to the specs for Neon engines.
