Default Rev'ing too High

Hey all --

I have a 98 Neon SOHC 5-Spd Manual Transmission. Lately, when i put the car into gear and give it some gas, it revs extremely high but i get little accelleration. This happens in all of my gears. I hooked up a computer to it and the only code that was coming up was a cylinder 2 misfire. I just changed the spark plugs on it (not the spark plug wires though). I know that something must be up with the wires because i switched my #2 wire with my #3 wire, reset the code and started to get a cylinder 3 misfire rather than a cylinder 2 misfire. However, could this problem really be as simple as the spark plug wires? If not, does anybody have any suggestions as to why my car is rev'ing so high?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.
