Default flip flop trunk

ive searched the forums on this subject but i could only find this topic in 2nd gen. im pretty sure you can make your own flip flop trunk for free by simply removing the two bolts at the rearthat attach the trunk to the bracket. it will go parallel to the ground but you have to move it to that position. otherwise it will just be normal. you have to pivot the trunk on the only 2 bolds holding it on. right?

watch it they are going to start calling you a ricer just because you want to be different or because you are going to do something that they don't like.
Flip Trunk
Disclaimer: This is the mod to make your trunk flip back and sit flat. This was on a 95 Dodge Neon
Highline. For other cars, you will have to do some custom work, but many cars are real similar to
this. I am not and will not be held responsible for any damage to vehicles or personal injury.
Although this mod can be performed by any mechanically inclined person, you may want to have it
done by a professional. Performing this mod, is at your own risk.
With that out of the way,
1st thing you want to measure one of your stock trunk mounting bolts. Measure the width and
length of the screws. Now you need to buy pins. They can be found at any hardware store and some
auto or tractor supply stores. You want to buy pins that are slightly larger than your stock screws in
width and very close in length. Just make sure they are NOT thicker than the bars in your trunk.
You will need 4 of these. You also will need 4 cotter pins, to fit though the holes in the end of the
pins. You may have to cut the pins, to a shorter length. If this is the case, you may want to go with a
pin with many holes vs. a pin with only one hole.
Now you will need a die grinder/cut off wheel, and a strong drill. You will also need a drill bit, the
same diameter (thickness) as you pins.
A buddy will really help out with this. 1st thing you will want to do is remove you trunk lid. There
is 2 screws on each side. You can get away with just unhooking the wires vs. disconnecting them,
and then set the lid in the trunk.
Now for the fun part! You will need to cut out the bracket where the bars mounted into. You will
measure up from the upper mounting hole. Measure up 3/8" or exactly HALF of the thickness of
your bar (measure the thickness of your bar to be sure). Make a line directly across the bracket.
This is where you will make your cut. Then cut down both sides to remove the piece.
Next, you will remount the trunk lid, using the stock screws.
Measure up about an inch, from the lower screw. This is where you will drill your new hole. It
doesn't have to be any exact distance, just make sure they are the same on both sides. Carefully
Drill the hole straight through the bracket and bar. Insert the pins into the holes, and put cotter pin
in to secure. Now remove one upper screw. Drill a hole right through the stock hole. Insert the pin,
and repeat on other side.
You’re done. The upper pins will stay in place all the time. Remove the lower pins to allow your
trunk to swing.
Flip Trunk
If you have a wing on your lid, you may have to get stronger springs, or cut your springs shorter to
keep you trunk up. Make sure pins are in when you close trunk or it will pull up in the front.

If you needpictures or other methedsI can send them to you in a PDF format
