Want to be 100% sure its the TOB
Alright, so now that its colder here when I start my car up in neutral after a couple seconds this rattling sound comes from the front of my car. When I push in my clutch the sound instantly stops, and when I release the clutch and let the car sit a second the sound instantly returns. The noise lasts at most 5 minutes untill it seems the car warms up and then it will drive quietly after yet the process will repeat itself the next morning when I start her up. I think its the throw out bearing though I heard that usually the sound hapens when the clutch is in and is quiet when its out where as mine is the other way around. I've also heard it could have something to do w/ something in my tranny. Anywho, i got a haynes and want to tackle this knowing its a relatively hard job. Also while i am in there, what else should i look for / replace while i have that part of the car all opened up?
its the TOB
the tob will usually make noise when the clutch is not depressed but will stop when pressing the clutch....i dont know where you heard it the other way around....
while you have the tranny out you might wanna replace the rear main seal
