the new neon I just got seems to be in need of a new altenator pretty soon I was wondering what years fit what like do the newer gen neons alternators fit the car is a 97 sohc.

im pretty sure all alternators for 95-99 will fit, not sure on dohc and sohc interchangeability

 

even if the 2nd gens fit, there would be no benefit to using it versus the 1st gen. just get a JY one from a 95-99

 

well I can get one off a wrote off 2001 for like 40$ thats why I asked

you can get one off of a 97-99 neon i know....but im not sure about the newer ones...
the alternators from 95-96 use a different plug then 97-99....but i dont know if the newer plug is the same as the 97-99 or if it was changed again....
any 1st gen alternator will physically work, might just need to change the plug with one from whatever year the alternator ends up comming from
