Default Upgrading my 1997 neon SOHC

I posted on here a few days ago about switching to a MTX. Well, im back, lol. My friend just got a civic si, and he keeps going on how fast it is and all this stuff. I asked him if he wanted to race me this summer sometime, becuase its really making me mad, its riced out bad. Anyway, my uncle has agred to help me mod it some. Right now its a 1997 neon stock. I really want to put in a MTX but, mom wont let me. (im 16...) so, i need some guidlines on what i should do to get as much lb-ft and hp.

to make it MTX you will need

Tranny
Cluch
Shift cables
Shifter.
cluch pedals
more but i forgot lol.

Hmm to make your car get HP get air intake frist . That might help . Its a SOHC , put a crane 14 in or Magum 02-04 cam in . I got a Magum cam ( Crane ) in and it gives me well over the horse power i did have in my car . Then go with a new Cam Gear . AEM or who evers NO EBAY !! . They will cheap you out on cam gears ive done it and sued them for it . But other then that go to www.andysautosport.com or www.mnc.allelitehosting.com join there and they will help you out for sure bro

Thanks.
Cody.

Who cares if it's riced out and he's bragging about his Civic. Try not to get caught up in the Import vs Domestic crap that alot of people get caught up in. The Civic is a great car with tons of engine swaps available at it's fingertips and has much more aftermarket support than our neons. Doesn't mean one is better than the other. Everyone has their own taste. That being said, you will need to upgrade a few things first...
1)Get either an Iceman CAI or make your own 3.0L intake
2)UDP
3)Buy a used DOHC muffler and swap out the SOHC muffler (restrictive). You don't need to buy an expensive aftermarket muffler or bigger exhaust piping.
4)Get some prothane motor mount inserts or stiffer mounts (helps with car launches).
5)You can swap in the camshaft from a 95 neon and gain about 4HP over stock.

These guys make the most wicked FWD chryslers out there. I deal with them on my 2.2 turbo II stuff.

https://dodgeforum.com/m_1037056/tm.htmtheres a dohc muffler for sale. check the classifieds on this site. also check your local junk yards. I pulled an atx throttle body out of mine last week for $30. too bad i cant use it yet. i broke a bolt trying to get the old one out.
