Default Dash Speakers

i just bought some sony 3.5s for on the dash but they seem large? can i just trim away some plastic or do i have to buy new ones?

last i knew the dash speakers were 3.5".....but, on alot of aftermarket speakers, they are measure from 1 side of the speaker surround to the other....rather then from bolt hole to bolt hole like many others do....

just trim the plastic...its what i had to do when i bought my audiobahn 3.5's....not because the speaker was too big, but because the magnet was....

Rockford makes a slimline 3.5' speaker that fits perfectly but you do still have to trim the surround a bit to get it to fit side to side. the magnet is small and fits awsome i belive its a fx1 or something I will check tonight sometime.
