i need help installing CAI
i just bought a CAI and i have no clue on how to install it myself..if someone (preferrably Spuds) can write a tutorial on installing it, that would be phenonmanal...thanks
i'm not Spud but...
step one: take off OEM intake. should just be two clamps. use a flat head screw driver to get those off. then pull the snorkel off the throttle body and where it connects to in the back. If its a 96+ model take off the plenum that goes over top of the valve cover. Just connects to the air box in the back.
Step two: take off air box. on 95 models it just clips in so just need to pull straight up to get it off. on 96+ models theres two bolts that hold it to the head. just un bolt those and the box will come off.
Step three: WAI (over the exhaust) just put one end on the Throttle body and use the clamp that was used on the original snorkel. if its a CAI (under the battery), you gotta do some cutting of the battery tray to get it to fit. if you have a two radiator fan setup then you might need to do some cutting to the CAI itself. and just put a piece of exhaust piping in between the two sections of the CAI to get it over the fans. if its just a one radiator fan setup then it should just fit right down below the battery if you cut it correctly. (its trial and error to get it cut. but its simple).
last step: get a small air filter to put on the PCV tube. on 95's its right behind the throttle body and on 96+ models its on the back of the valve cover.
