Battery light going on, but battery is new
Two months ago, I had to have a new battery put into my 97 Neon (85,000 miles). When the guy from AAA installed it, he said he couldn't get the exact cable it needed, so he used a different one and said he would put the right one in when he got it. The car ran fine once the new battery was in, so I didn't think about it.
So two weeks ago, the battery light comes on as I'm driving to work. I get to work (about 10 miles away) and figure if the car doesn't start, I'll call AAA again. The car starts and I drive it home no problem. Then the light doesn't come on again until yesterday, when it comes on again as I'm driving to work. Same thing, when I turn the car on to drive home, it doesn't come on and there's no problem. Then it came on again today both going to AND from work.
Now I'm worried. I'm already planning on calling AAA about getting the correct cable, but I'm wondering if this is something I need to take care of NOW or if it can wait a few days. The car hasn't had any other problems since I got the new battery, no stalling or flickering dome light or anything. It's just the light that's been coming on.
Is this a big deal?

My question is, what cable is he talking about? I dont see why a new battery would call for new battery cables from AAA...
Oh and a pic would be nice

Ok for one... it dont matter what "cable" you have installed as long as it has a good connection, it is at least 4g, The connections are solid, and its long enuf....
for 2 take your voltmeter and get the car running and see what the alternator is putting out...basicly seeing if the alternator is bad....let us know what the reading is...
3 if all else fails take the battery down and get it tested, however i highly doubt its your battery...

i think i will go with 12volt on this one. i put my batt in the trunk and had a ground that didnt seat properly. i ended up with the same problem as you. does it seem to happen most commonly when ur on corners? or just driving agressively? or does it happen basicly no matter what?
