Default 1995 neon no power to coil pack

I just got this 1995 neon as a project car, owner said it ran when they parked it 4-6 mon. ago spedo was jumping around and seemed to be having electrical problems, trailered it home put new battery in but am getting no power to coil pack via [dark green wire with orange stripe] center wire of the three going to the coil pack. after checking out different sensors and following that particular wire in my haynes manual, as a last resort i took a jumper wire from pos. battery post to the green wire at coil pack, it started right up! so now what could be the problem? also with the motor running the tack. does not work, alternator? ignition switch? anyone have any suggestions Thanks.

either you have a short in the wire or your not getting a good enough ground or your fuse is fried. hell, could even be that you have a broken wire.

I cant post a pic but if you lift the fuse/relay box off the battery tray and follow the wire harness from the fuse/relay box my problem was where the wires rubbed against the clutch cable,i had one bare wire and the one causing the problem only had a small nick but it got moisture over time untill the wire broke.
