Default speaker question (powered sub)

I just finallly wired up my powered sub. its an infinity basslink 2 i have tucked in the very rear left corner of my trunk. i wired the positive to the battery, the negative to the ground that is right by it in my neons trunk (upper drivers side near the very rear and top of the trunk area) and the remote to the remote wire on my head unit. my head unit doesnt have rca outs for a sub, but the sub has connection so you can just splice it in with the frnt and rear speaker wire. all the wiring is right, but it wont work right.

if the car has the ignition on but isnt running the sub works and soundsawesome up to about 85% volume. turn it up past that and it cuts out completely.

start the car and the speaker makes no noise. the power led is lit, but the speaker doesnt do anything.

i have capacitors on my 6x9s in the back that are suppose to filter out the bass content. they did that until i hooked the sub up. i hooked the sub in before the capacitor in the rear speaker wire. now - if the sub is on the capacitors work, if the sub doesnt work the 6x9s put out bass. specs are below.

[*]compact powered subwoofer[*]10" square woofer and passive radiator[*]Class D 250-watt amplifier[*]wired volume control with 16-1/4' cable[*]variable low-pass crossover (50-120 Hz at 12 dB per octave)[*]bass boost (-6 dB to +3 dB at 40 Hz)[*]phase control (0-180 degrees)[*]frequency response: 20-120 Hz

Sounds like bad ground or u should use a high low converter on your speakers instead of just hooking them up to the amp. So the sub never works? or when u turn it past 85%?

Default RE: speaker question (powered sub)

the sub works if the ignition is on but the car is not running. unless you turn it up loud - then the speaker cuts out all together.

if you start the ignition- the power light on the sub comes on (as it should) but the speaker is cut out (as in makes no sound)

ill check the ground tonight. thanks for the input.
