Just picked up a AMM sohc long tube intake manifold...plus it was one that mike acually used on his car and did a little more work then he useally does on them...when i pm'ed All Motor Mike about what was done on it he said "i gasket matched the runners, trimmed the injector humps, ported the runners about 6" in to them, cleaned up all the external paint and casting flaws and yes this is a long runner manifold." Normally he charges 350 for just a basic manifold no porting no nothing just weld the box on the runners. then its 70 for the port and port match and 50 to clean up the external casting flaws. He dident give me a price on the injector humps so it would be 420 befor shipping without the injector humps filled and filed. I got it for 375 shipped. heres some pics of it installed on the kids car and some random pics of whatmikes intakework looks like.

looks good....though for half that price im picking up a 95 sohc neon that needs a head gasket

From what ive read in a post over there reviewing his sohc im everyone says that it makes power up and beond even where the afx cuts you off at. And that even on a stock neon you can feel it really well in the butt dyno. that you will continue to be thrown back in your seat all the way to redline, instead of being thrown back and then the sohc falls on its face around 5500 rpm and you come foward in your seat then get slammed back in second. just have to get used to being thrown back... but we will see... I will be so pissed if I get this thing and it sucks *****...

One question though...obviously you have to block off your egr... ok I've read of using 6 cents to do it by cutting the tube pulling the tube off the metal mounting deal and slipping a penny in the intake manifold between the metal deal and manifold and then a nickle in where the other side of the tube connects...question is...doing it this way will leave the sylinoid (sp) connected to the block is the mounting bolt patern the same on the block as the other side of the sylinoid??? if you need pics i can take some...

 

Just take off your EGR valve and use the gasket to make a blockoff for it. Use a Coke can or drink of your preference.

 

ok so i tried the egr pop can trick and the bolts are too long.... So me getting lazy decided to try the whole 6 cents thing... so i pulled the tube off of the manifold and found out the hole was a little larger then a penny...lol... so i cut the tube and took the ovel part that bolts to the manifold and cut out a mt dew can to cover the hole...works well... and then I took off the cylinoid (sp) and low and behold a nickle fits perfectly and when i say perfectly i mean it... inbetween the gasket and the egr hole. so I put anickel there and put the cylinoid back on the car with no tube... pluged the brake booster vac line and works well plus even have more room on that side of the engine.... damn should have taken pics... I guess I'll do that tomorrow and post a how to...

 

i made some block off plate for mine....cost about $4-$6.....just need a chin flatbar of aluminum and a dremel
