18" wheels on a 1st gen??
I have a 98' R/T. It has a 2 inch static drop and currently sits on 17" aftermarket wheels. Tire size is 205/40/17.
Here's my problem. I ordered a set of 18" aftermarket wheels with a +35 offset. Tire size is 225/40/18. The new wheels and tire are in transit. I had the car on a lift today for regular maintenance and decided to try my friends 18" wheels on. His are from a Subaru WRX. They didn't even come close to fitting!!!! The wheel was set firmly against the strut before the wheel was even on all the way. His wheels have a 0 offset. I am hoping the offset will make the difference.
Has anyone ever put 18's on a first gen? Is it even possible or did I just blow a 1000 bucks?
Any info would be much appreciated.

RE: 18" wheels on a 1st gen??
they do fit on a neon...i had a set of 18's on my 1st r/t.....the problem your gonna run into is the tire size....i seriously doubtyour gonna fit those size tires on a neon without doing alot of work...
when using 18's you need to run a 225/35-18...but who knows...maybe you will get lucky (though i dont think so)
as for the offset, i have no idea...you might run into issues with the rim/tire hitting the fender with a 2 inch drop

Ok, The wheels came in and I tried em on. They go on and clear everything except the spring perch. The perch is resting firmly on the 225/40/18s. So, switching to the 215/35/18s should do the trick. Just sucks that I spent so much on new tires and can't even use em. Shoulda ask 1st. Oh well. Live and learn
Thanks everyone, for all the input.
