96 neon speedo quits intermittently

The speedo in my daughters neon quits every once and a while and then works again. Any ideas?

Most likely the speed sensor. Best way to diagnose is with an oscilloscope.

Or it could be you need to resolder the flows on the back of the cluster.

The flows inside the yellow circles is what you need to reflow.
