I was thinking give input please
WIll a 2.4 dohc crank work with a 2.0 engine? Wont it just make the stroke longer? Bore is the same and the stroke is different right? I would just use the 2.4 head? what do u guys think?
Another thing is there anything different between the 2.0 neon engine and eclipse engine. Are any of the internals "better" in any way?
I cant decide what to do with my 2dr neon. Its a sohc auto with a knocking engine, junk tranny. I think i am going to use the dohc pistons on a sohc. Raise compression and run it all motor the cheap way? Or lowering the compression for boost. I dont want to just turbo another neon. I want to do something neat. I have an eclipse engine and a few neon engine laying around. No dohc parts besides on the eclipse engine. So thats where i am at. Any ideas would be great. Thanks

ok lets get some things straight....
1) no the 2.4 crank will not work in a 2.0... differnet trigger wheel...2.4 has a longer crank and block casting. The 2.4 uses longer rods and they won't work in a 2.0. And that goes the other way too. Use 2.4 crank in a 2.4 and use 2.4 rods and pistons in a 2.4.
2) the 2.4 is exactly 1 inch taller then the 2.0
3) The 2.0 and 2.4 heads are exactly the same the difference is in the cams... exact same casting though...
4) If its the 420a block from a 2nd gen eclipes then the PISTONS will work however anytime you put dohc pistons in you must prep them before shoving them in otherwise the pistions will slap horriably and you will notice very faint marks all around the outside of the pistion when you pull your head the next time...
5) theres nothing really you can do left to a neon that is neat its really all been done before... you can do something that hasent been done that many times but.... I can tell you this... there has never been a neon with a 2.4 swap that has been supercharged... lol but then again all you will do is roast your tires....
6) THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS CHEAP PERFORMANCE...

I thought the bore, pistions and rods were the same just the crank stroke was longer. But thanks for clearing that up. I thought about the whole supercharger thing. I can atually pic up 2 pontiac bonn chargers cheap. But it seems like way to much modding for me to mess with. WHat do you think of the srt4 swap? Would it be funner to pick up the 2.4 ad use srt internals. I really want to do an engine build on this one. The 2.4 dohc turbo from the pt wont fit right? Ba dont get mad if this has been asked a million times. Is the 2.4 dohc turbo the same as the srt turbo? Can i use the 2.4 dohc pt turbo on the 2.0 dohc engine? Just like the srt4 turbo?

Can i just use that and lower my compression a little? On my sohc? Because it comes with the pistons. Dohc pistons on a sohc block and head should lower compression right?
