Will the DOHC head work with the SOHC pistons?

Can you re-use the head bolts?

I'm rebuilding my friends girlfriends car it is a DOHC car and he just got the head back. He picked up a SOHC motor can I put the DOHC head on it?

 

Yes, but it will lower the compression, but not enough to make too much of a difference. I would suggest getting new head bolts, as they stretch when they are torqued.

 

SOHC pistons in a DOHC=9.3:1
DOHC pistons in a DOHC=9.6:1
SOHC pistons in a SOHC=9.8:1
DOHC pistons in a SOHC=10.1:1 (could be 10.3:1 i forget)

 

Thanks that helps alot. Plus the head was milled down a little so it should be close to what it used to be.

 

depends on how much its milled

 

if your gona do 10-1 make sure you use a better grade of gas due to the higher compression.
