how do you get the lifters out of the SOHC head?

how do you get the lifters out of the SOHC head?
I figured that they should come right out but the seem to be stuck. Is there any trick into getting them out? Does anyone have a lifter laying around that they could take a picture of? I need to get them out to compare them to my project cars lifters. Its not a neon so I want to see how similar they are.

lifers or lash adjusters same thing. What ever you do just dont try and use a magnet. i use a small hook
