ok... car doesnt get spark.. i believe it is either a short or a bad ground the car gently shut off when i washed the motor, then it didnt start for two weeks... then it started 2 weeks later and ran but the taillights didnt work... then it shut off and hasnt started since...now everytime i try to start it it cranks with no spark and a light smoke comes off the ground to the starter....can somebody please tell me what wires to inspect for a problem like this? thanks guys!

 

Get a haynes manual and study the wiring schematics.

 

i have a haynes manual, but i figured a forum could help narrow it down without learning the entire electrical system of the car

 

if you're letting smoke out of the wires start there check your battery first then the smoking wire to the starter, could also be the positve cable being bad with out seeing it could possible be a loose wire on the starter grounding out the bad thing about electrical problems is that they are usually an easy fix but pain in the a** ti find sometimes
