1998 neon running on 3 cylinders, help please!
Hey, ill try to explain my problem the best i can, and if you have any help or input it would be appreciated.
I just bought a 1998 neon, 4dr, from a guy i know. When i bought it he said there was a problem with the car running on 4 cylinders sometimes then 3 other times. He brought it to a garagebefore, and they dont know what the problem is, everything appears ok.
Sojust this weekend i went on a trip, 3 hours out of my town, and after about an hour, i hit the gas station and filled up ( the car was running fine up until this point ) right after i got gas the check engine light came on, and it flashed every now and then when i accelerated or hit hills. The main problem is going from 20-40mph, after that its ok. Also when theres 4 people in the car, it really struggles. Anyways the check engine light is always on now ( never was on for him before, flashes every so often when i drive it hard or carry weight), spark wires and plugs have been changed. If you need more info from me let me know. ThanksA lot
Any help is appreciated.

try and pull the codes from the computer
Q: My Check Engine Light (CEL) is on, what do I do?
A: To read any codes on your neon, put the key in the ignition and cycle it to ACC on-off-on-off-on within 5 seconds. As the CEL flashes, count the number of flashes. This represents the code. An example would be flash-flash-flash-flash, pause, flash-flash-flash, which would be a Code 43, single or multiple cylinder misfire. A list of codes can be found HERE or HERE.

how much mileage you got?
you using champion plugs?
is there oil getting down to your plugs? seen this many times the little o-rings the go up thru the valve cover leak.
could also be a dirty injector.
Possibilities are endless...
