Default engine swap

ok so im debating on wheter to swap the 2.0 dohc motor, just the head, or the 2.4 in my neon... i think if i can i would like to just do the dohc head but im not sure if my internals are okay in the motor... i tried starting it when it had no spark and it turned over and sounded kinda nasty almost like part of the internals was messed up... im new to all this so dont bash me too bad please lol i have the sohc right now and i know the dohc head on that block lowers compression which is good because i would like to turbo it eventually... but in the meantime will that compression difference make the car really slow??? im open for opinions so please let me know what u guys think thanks!

in my opinion its your car do watever you want, but ive not heard anything bad about the 2.4 swap(except its a slug at high rpms without the 2.0 cams) so im going with it.. and later down the road if you want a turbo and low compression you can get the srt4 internals and there you go

but hey its your car and your choice

pt cruiser alternator brackets, pt cruiser water output neck..
i went to the dealer and got both brackets and Neck for i think $80.. which seemed like a good deal to me considering someone was just selling me the brackets for $100

but i got the brackets and outlet from a 2001 pt cruiser just make sure when you get it... it says 2.4 Liter on it

the heater hard lines are the lines that the heater hoses connect to, on the drivers side of the head...
