Default tuneup question

I'm planning on doing a tuneup on my 97 DOHC, and wanted some opinions/advice. I was wondering what brand of plugs, wires, and even ignition pack is recommended? The car is basically stock, with just a CAI and a 52mm TB. Also, is it normal to get around 40 mpg highway, but only 22-24 mpg city? This has been the case since I bought the car 4 years ago. Unfortunately, 90% of my driving is city.

stock champion spark plugs nothing else...
plug wires lower the resistance the better
even the msd coil pack is a stock in a red box no gain...

yes it is very normall for your car to get 40 on the hiway and less in town... however you are a bit low in town...
