RE: code check with key
ok i dont know why dark told you to do that but heres how you do it...
ok put your key in... now we havea fewdifferent postions we can move the key to... we can leave the key where it is, we will call this the key in postion... you can turn the key toward you and thats ACC... from the key in postion you can click it forward once, no lights will come on but you wont be able to get your key out... this is the OFF, position. Now we can click it forward one more time, all the dash lights come on and the fuel pump will prime. This is the ON postion. Then there is one more click forward witch will start the car....
Now that you know where all the postions are... try it again...
On - Off - On - Off wait a few seconds your service engine soon light will go off...then begin to blink.seriously it takes like 7-10 seconds to start giving you the codes so be patient.

wifes car is a 96 maybe its an early model or surplus cluster from the 95's and its a plymouth biggest POS but whatever it drives but the damn CEL light is on and we just had it checked about a few months ago. anyways not a big deal. i used to do the code check with my other plymouth and it was fine. never had an issue with the codes in that one

also, my 97 had the Door ajar light. all the other ones only have the little triangle that never works for the hazard lights.
