anybody else hate drum brakes
so like 4 months ago i changed the rear shoes put it all back together and was having trouble getting the parking brake to work properly, wouldn't catch until the handle was all the way up. after a couple of months got tired of it and took it all apart to see what was up and on one side the adjustment lever was back behind the star wheel. so i decided to replace all the hardware on both sides......still nothing but would work when the handle was all the way up.......come friday i decided i had enough went and got new drums and saturday went to the junkyard and pulled two parking barke cables from an automatic.got home put it all back in and.............still nothing arggghhhhhhhh. tired of leaving it in gear with a wheel chock under a tire so it won't roll away. anybody have any ideas as to why. i'll post pictures later of the internals so you guys might see if something is wrong.
You have to adjust it, lol. The little wheel thing, take a screwdriver and kinda ratchet it outward, then put the drums on and keep doing it until the handle feels better. Drums are easy, you just have to know how to do them.
yea i know that. but in order for the parking brake to catch i have to have constent drag between the shoes and drum. shouldn't have to be like that. theres a lot of drag by the way.
