Default piston removal

on a 2.0 sohc can you remove the pistons from the bottom without taking the engine out of the car?does anybody know?

you could take the pistons out throu the bottom, but you would have to remove the crankshaft...therefor, you would have to take the motor out of the car....and you also cant get them back in through the bottom....you have to go through the top...

if you take the head off, then you can get the pistons out and put them back in while leaving the motor in the car

i was told that i have a lose wrist pin in cylinder #1.it just started dont know why tested it by taking #1 PLUG WIRE OFF AND RISING THE IDLE AND THE SOUND WENT AWAY.I PERSONAL THOUGHT THAT IT WAS #1CRANK BEARING BECAUSE OF THE BLUISH SMOKE.CAN ANY ONE JUSTIFY THAT I CAN REMOVE THE THE HEAD AND THE BOTTOM AND PULL THE PISTONS FROM THE BOTTOM AND REPLACE THEM FROMTHE TOP.

No. You need to pull the crank. To pull the crank you need to pull the flywheel. To pull the flywheel you need to pull the tranny. So therefor nothing to hold the engine up. Because you will need to remove the left motor mount in the process. While ur in there make sure to do ur oil pump, water pump, and timing belt. And since ur doing pistons I would just get new bearings and rings while ur at it. Good luck messing around with the top. That lip on there will give you hell trying to pull them out and trying to get them in.

you cant pull the pistons from the bottom, you have to pull it through the top and replace it through the top

screw it ill just do a complete rebuild with stronger pistons and rods ,just do it right then.

whats stoping you from rebuilding it? if its tools it would cost you just as much to go to a mechanic and do it than buy the tools and do it yourself

had a unfortunate accident at work and tor out rotatorcuff and ripped arm out of socket.its not the tools.and ill be out work for at least a year.and need my car its my everyday driver.
