As long as sound quality is decent. I wish I had a welder so I would be more willing to use a universal muffler and make my own hangers. As far as the cat-back goes, I was thinking about Borla. Is it a stock muffler off a 'maro?

Borla is nice just doesent have a big of muffler as the maro muffler... ill take some pics of under the car so you can see how huge this thing is...and i think you can find a pic of the borla on modern...

I was acually suprised at the qaulity of the vids... heres one of Boxers 2.4 starting up for the first time... note that the exhaust was not hooked up just a header...

talking about other diy projects for free...

have you removed the foam pieace from the back lip of your hood??? right where it comes down on the cowl in front of the window??? It will allow for more airflow and lower underhood temps...

Yea I might actually consider a maro exhaust and just get the walker brand mandrel bent tubing off rockauto. I really do want a nice sound, but I want it to be somewhat lioud inside the car while still being quiet outside, and I think a big muffler like that, paired with a test pipe or hollowed cat would help.

I haven't removed the foam on the hood yet. That might be a quick project for me today when I get home

Thanks for the idea man, I totally forgot about that. As far as muffler goes, I will probably go for the borla (friend has a universal pro xs for $100) or the maro muffler.

If your curious about the borla muffler, this is what he has....

Most of the borla stuff is aluminized, so I dont think it would be a bad idea.

aluminum does rust, but instead of the red oxide it make a thin layer of aluminum oxide that protects the surface of the metal from further rust. Of course in when it comes in contact with more aggresive alkalies it producess galvanic corrosion whitch can produce damagedepending on the specificalloy.
