stock clutch - not transmission. the nvt-350 will take more abuse than our stock 2.0s can throw at it.

i am sure u guys are all sick of me coming to the first gen site asking me what will swap and what will not..... but will the nvt 350 tranny fit from a first to sec gen? or accually will ALL the trannys from neons (excuding srt) bolt right up to any year neon????? i need to get a spair just incase for next year.....

and to add to the topic i would like to say that srt swap can not be done for 1500.... but withthe list of parts that was given will deffentely show a very nice gain.... i would do that before thinking about a engine swap

2nd gen trannys and the srt hydro trannys can be used... just need to use the first gen bellhousing to switch it back to cable clutch...

Come over as often as you like man. Does your 2G have the hydraulic shift setup or cable? Ultimately, you can use any mtx that bolts up to a 95-05 dodge 2.0L/2.4L excluding the srt as stated by 95to96. (requires some fab work). Recommend the 01+ with the stronger case.

he dident say anything about fab work... it WILL bolt directly to the block after you switch the bellhousing... however getting it to fit the rest of the car is up to you... but it will bolt up... and work...

i was actually told over at the .org that the T-350 can handle up to over 300ft. lbs. of torque before modding it, its just the clutch and flywheel.

Matt trip is throwing in exess of 600 at his tranny and its stock other then a dual disc clutchmasters clutch... its not the tranny itself its the clutch......

The transmission itself goes bye bye at around 675 hp... Grover has killed a few heat forged transmissions and they only hold up about 15 runs or so before going boom... so yeah...

So 99% of people do not have to worry about the intergity of the transmission... its just the guys who spend 10s of thousands of dollars on there set-up that need to worry about it...

Just an interesting fact...
Did you know the clutch plates in the atx can handle in upwards of 1200 hp... not the whole transmission but the clutch plates themselfs... The fastest of Neons run ATX transmissions...
Theres also a guy that makes these transmissions that will hold anything and even have a trans brake for 4500 bucks or so... his name is scott kornish... and if you know anything about neon racing you will know that his work is worth its weight in gold...

ok you can go a lot of different directions however since you dident mention turbo... I'm assuming you want to stay NA...

This would be a damn nice set-up for ya...
Crane 18 cam's (can find them used for 315-350
crane valve springs 100 bucks
AMM long runner intake manifold. 550 this will go hand and hand with the cams... Indys are crap crap crap...
Kirk long tube race header 219 off modern... this header has the best collector and biggest collector you can get without making your own...
AFX/R PCM This you will have to find used... they useually go for 250 bucks if you need help finding one pm me and I can direct you where to look...

This would be a killer set-up... and no one will argue with me... for your 1500 bucks... this set-up comes out to 1440 give or take 10 bucks... granted you could get adjustable cam gears but you really dont need them... And as long as you dont live in california you will be good...

you dont need new valves... you do not need retainers.... acually i think Spud still has some crane springs and what not laying around cheap... The msd coil pack doesent do anything its just a stock red coil pack no performance gains what so ever... The race motor mounts can be had for 35 bucks shipped off ebay and there the same exact thing that MP has but cheaper... you will be fine with the 52mm tb for now... but 55 is opptimum for the neon... 60 is to big unless your turbo...

PM me if you have any more questions i can help you find some of this stuff cheaper...

If you run this you will also need lots of headwork, high comp pistons and connecting rods, atleast a 55mm tb, adjustable cam gears, SAFC, Wideband. no point in spending that much money if you cant tune it all. And it states that you will need headwork and high comp pistosn directly on cranes website.

Just do a 2.4l swap and then mod that, you'll be much happier. If i had seen this thread friday i would has sold you EVERYTHING you would have needed to run 16s in your car, but owell.
