hi everyone,
I have a 98 neon, SOHC 2.0, it started stalling recently. it stalls from time to time. it might happen when I start it or when I make a stop in signal. When it stalls, the engine cramps and gets weak then just stalls; the dash gets strange: the left signal is on but dim, the speed meter points to 40 or 60km/h but the car is still. engine checking warning was on for a while and had error code 12 and 25, atfer a while, they were gone both.
I cleaned the throttle body and replaced plug, ignition wire yestday but it stalls again, the only thing changed is it cramps for longer time and shows the engine checking signal and gives error code 12, 25, 42, 71. Yes, it is 71. what does it mean?
should I replace fuel pump or start from cleanning injector?
Thanks

First and foremost, keep it stupid simple. Look over all your sensor connections, and check your main connections to your computer. The dash going crazy sounds like computer problems to me, but start simple. Also, with stalling, check plugs, wires and coil pack hookups. Make sure your air filter isnt clogged with some BS. Then, if you want to do the diagnostics yourself, geta multimeter and start checking voltages and resistance to your sensors judging by codes thrown to find which one(s) need replacing. You will need a manual for the specs. Or, take it to your local shop and have them deal with it. It costs more, but you dont pull your hair out when the sensor you just spent $$ on didnt fix the problem. Those little sensors add up, trust me.

try gettting auto zone to run a diagnostics check, there free and will help narrow down the problem.

Also, when you have changed something that relates to a code, to clear the computer you dont need to unhook the battery. Just open your fuse box under the hood by the computer/behind the battery and pull the fuel pump fuse. Its the small 20A fuse. Keep it out for around a minute and then plug it back in. That should clear your codes and let you start from a clean slate. Much easier than reconnecting battery leads.

Sounds like you have some problems... and with code 25 and 42 having so many sub codes i would do what 12 volt has allready said... go in and have them read your codes with a obd2 code reader... 25 could be something as simple as cleaning your iac solenoid...45 have no clue untill you get the sub code...
