Bent Valves on $50 engine, now with pics
So i picked up a DOHC engine for $50 from a guy who said it wouldnt run. Figured even if somethings seriously wrong at least i could probably scavenge something.
Turns out the timing belt snapped. Exhaust valves are bent, although there not bent all crazy, just barely, intake valves seam fine, the exhaust valves are stuck about 1/4 inch from seated.
Questions, are the valve guides replaceable? I'm thinking that he wasnt going that fast for only the exhaust valves to be bent, everything else on the head is perfect, the cam journals are perfect, car only had 73000 on it, and its been sitting ever since.

the guides are replaceable, but probably don't have the equipment to press them out and press the new ones in. Now would be a good time to rebuild and check the rest of the engine out. Make sure everything else is kosher
ya, this ones for my engine build, so im not rushed, and the machine work isnt a prob, this engine was going to be fully rebuilt and sent to AMM for porting, it'd just be a shame to waste it with that low of mileage and damn near perfect cam journals, cool i just wanted to find if the valve guides could be replaced, hadnt had a chance to pull them out yet
