that additionaly 90* on the final tourqe spec for head bolts seems a little much?

 

In a way yes it is a bit much... head bolts are tightened to the point of streaching them so they can not be reused... but I dare you to not do it...

 

ok well heres the deal
we reused the headbolts because they have like 100 miles on them
so we only went another 3/16 or so of a turn

 

they were tqed beond the streaching point the first time you tqed them they are no good according to dodge... many have had sussess reusing some have failed...

 

lets hope for the best i guess

 

I reused mine after a week of use. Did not torque them to spec though, as I did not have a torque wrench. All in all, the 90* at the end makes it fool proof for failure. Just do it an rest easy.

 

i have never bought a new set of head bolts....no problems yet
i asked one of the mechanics i know at the dealership, who is also a neon enthusiest, about the head bolts a week or so ago...he said that the bolts are actually made to be re-used 1 time, but no more then that
