Default Newbie Neon guy

I just picked up a 1996 neon with 140kms.
Now everyone is telling how bad these cars are on head gaskets, are they really that bad?
Will increasing the percentage of antifreeze help these cars? Should I run and hide or is there help for this new to me neon

Thanks
Jeff

the headgasket might have alredy been replaced...you can check if its a steel headgasket by looking between the head and block...if the gasket is steel, then dont worry...but if the gasket is made of cardboard, then you might wanna get it replaced

They are not bad cars. Like any car though, it depends on the owner to maintain the vehicle. If you maintain the car it should help with the high gas prices.
