96 neon wont start
as I posted before my daughters 96 neon 2.0 sohc wont start. Have checked everything I can think of. Has spark/changed and regapped plugs/ checked timing belt and timing everything is right on the mark/ have fuel getting 44psi on rail when we try to start it. / cleaned and checked grounds / put new ends on battery post / changed pcm still nothing/ check crank, cam, throttle, sensor with multi metor and all working as tey should. only thing I have found so far is going by my repair manual, I test fuel pump relay and a.s.d. relay fuel pump test just as book said battery power at terminal 30 and power at ternimal 86 with key on book said you test asd relay same way I found battery power at term.#30 like I should but I have power at ternimal 86 all the time even with key off book said I should have it with key on only but so far cant find why I would have power there all the time. anyone have any ideas what to look for? wiring diagram doesnt show where that line for terminal 86 is feed from. anyone know ??
thanks
thanks
is it leaking any oil? i know its going to be hard to tell if its been sitting and oil may only be coming out when it runs in some cases.
do a compression test if you can, and checkthe injectors- just as one more thing off the check list. then i guess if I were you id look for a 96 in a j/y and grab the engine harness. when neons get fuel, air, spark, make compression, and are electrically happy - they start. there could be other things wrong that may make them angry about starting - but they start.

hi well thanks for the ideas to try. did compression test i am 120/130/130/110 from 1 to 4 cyl. ran another fuel pressure test its at 40-42 psi as i crank it over pulled fuel line of rail cranked it over getting about 8 oz of fuel in the 6 secound crank. engine stumbled like it was trying to start with fuel line off. also hooked up noid light at each injector and they come on when key is turned to run then will pulse as i try to start. so I am still at a lost should start has fuel/compression/spark but still nothing anyone else have anymore ideas?
#86 is the signal out of the ignition switch and #85 is the ground that's supplied by the neutral safety switch (auto.). Terminal 85 will be a ground at all times if your caris a manual trans and will vary if it's automatic.
Connect your meter to positive and test for the circuit to show 12 volts when shifted to park or neutral. so if you're lacking ground on #85, check the neutral safety switch on the tranny
It's a molded rubber-type connector and they tend to become hard with age ormay have fallen off.

anyone else think that compression is a bit low? my stock dohc made 185/195/195/185
